Paladin Knighthawk

Specifically designed for Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) missions, Knighthawk uses an LTE connection which allows it to reach the 3 mile radius limit required by the FAA with ease. With a 55 minute battery life with payload, users have ample time for the majority of situations to gather intel. Knighthawk is manufactured in Houston, TX USA and has accomplished over 1800 Drone as First Responder (DFR) BVLOS missions.

LTE vs Radio-based Coverage

With an LTE connection, Knighthawk is able to safely travel a 3 mile radius from its home base as seen by the orange circle which is the limit set forth by the FAA for BVLOS operations.

Available radio-based drones have real world condition ranges demonstrated by the 1.5 mile radius grey circles. 

LTE is also a major factor in how our partner departments are able to acquire BVLOS waivers without need for a visual observer (VO) on a roof. We use other VO mitigations to accomplish this.

Using LTE allows the drone to travel miles away from its home base, however, for safety reasons, the FAA has limited BVLOS to a 3 mile radius from the launch location.

We have gotten the first ever BVLOS waiver in Class B airspace authorized by the FAA. The waivers we have obtained for departments do not require a VO to be present at the launch location.

Watchtower

Watchtower is Paladin’s DFR software where control of Knighthawk, view of the live video feed, and data management take place. The ability to control the drones location with the click of a button on a computer or smartphone from anywhere in the country makes this system an easy to use force multiplier that can relay critical information minutes before humans arrive on scene.

Whether being operated out of a real-time crime center, dispatch center, or in a UAS unit, emergency response can be chaotic with multiple sources of information coming in all at once. Watchtower has been designed to be as simple as possible and works to lower the risk of human error through autonomous flight making it both very safe and extremely effective at gathering and communicating information.

Watchtower integrates with your CAD system to automatically upload the 911 emergencies destination into the drone. When one choses an emergency to deploy to from the queue, Watchtower picks the optimal drone for the flight based on a variety of factors including proximity and battery life.
